Zeppelin! is a joint project of Gordian Maugg Film- und Fernsehproduktions-GmbH and Transit Film GmbH. The historic crime story deals with the popular airship Hindenburg, which exploded over Lakehurst in 1937. One of the crew members, dying in the flames of the Hindenburg, was Robert Silcher. In 2005 his grandson Matthias wants to learn more about this tragic event. Director Gordian Maugg wrote the script together with Alexander Häusser, the author of the same named novel. The international version is in German with either English or French subtitles.
The Day Bobby Ewing died has been honoured with the Max-Ophuels-Award for the Best German Debut Film of the year 2005. It tells the story of the “Rainbow Alternative Communal Living Co-op”, protesting against the construction of a local nuclear power plant. The life of the persistent flowerchildren gets turned up side down as Bobby Ewing from the television series “Dallas” - their favourite soap star - dies. Worse - of course - is, when they hear about the nuclear disaster of Chernobyl. The film has been screened at several international film festivals.
Enlighted Love - Laughing Death (Wagner: The Staging of a Family Drama) has been realised by 'Neue Mira Filmproduktion' and co-produded by 'Transit Film', 'Koppfilm' und 'ZDF/Arte'. The documentary describes the life of the Wagner clan during the performance of “The Ring of the Nibelungs” at the festival in Bayreuth. Oliver Becker compares the entanglements of the musical tragedy with the personal encounters of the Wagners. In order to make the film as realistic as possible, the production team reconstructed costumes, props and stage design based on historical research.
Wilhelm Furtwängler - Longing for Germany is a project of 'Neue Mira Filmproduktion', which has been coproduced by 'Transit Film' and 'ZDF/Arte'. - "When you listen to him, it is the impression of a huge, pulsating room, which overwhelms you the most”, Jewish violinist Yehudi Menuhin described the work of Wilhelm Furtwaengler. It was also Menuhin, who helped Furtwaengler – the former vice president of the “Reichsmusikkammer” – to get denazified. However, Furtwaengler's past in the Third Reich stuck to him till his death 1954. With extraordinary footage and a range of interviews director Oilver Becker illuminates the ambivalent world Furtwaengler grew to fame.
