“The pride of Soviet cinematography” in its reconstructed form. Panzerkreuzer Potemkin - Das Jahr 1905 (Battleship Potemkin - The year 1905) was produced for the 20th anniversary of the mutiny on the tsarist battleship in front of Odessa’s harbour on 14th June 1905. Length: approx. 70 minutes. Original score: Edmund Meisel (1926). Adapted, instrumented and conducted by Helmut Imig (2005). Played by the German Filmorchester Babelsberg. The movies have been digitally restored and underlined with new scores. Emil Jannings as the hypocrite Tartuffe. F. W. Murnau’s version of Molière’s comedy is a classic of the Weimar Republic (year of production: 1925). The restored edition has been underlined with an adaptation of Giuseppe Becce’s original score, played by Javier Pérez de Azpeitia. 63 minutes, approximately. Colourtinted. With Dr. Mabuse (1922) Fritz Lang created the prototype of a modern and multifaceted criminal, based on Norbert Jacques’ novella. This is a restored version with a new score by Aljoscha Zimmermann (Dolby Digital 5.1 & Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo). Length: Part 1: 155 minutes / Part 2: 115 minutes. Der Letzte Mann (The Last Laugh, 1924) leveraged Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s international career. Especially Karl Freund’s “unleashed camera”, a ground-breaking innovation for this period of time, caused a furore. Restored version with an adaption of Giuseppe Becce’s original score by Detlev Glanert. Conducted by Frank Strobel with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken. Approx. 90 minutes. The video edition “German Silent Movies“ consists of 10 films and an information booklet by Hans Günther Pflaum. The movies are planned to be published on DVD in 2008.
